Materials Needed
Suitable fabrics: The Worker Trouser works very well in structured heavy to mid weight twills, drills, denims and canvas fabrics. Lighter twills and denims are lovely in the summer and the lighter weight fabrics will give you a slightly looser fit. Before you start check you can easily sew through 5 layers of your chosen fabric.
Fabric requirements: Our lay-plans are always done on a single layer of fabric to reduce wastage.
Fabric width 150cm | Sizes 4 - 12 = 135cm | Sizes 14 - 20 = 190cm | Sizes 18 - 28 = 230cm
Fabric width 110cm | Sizes 4 - 12 = 210cm | Sizes 14 - 20 = 215cm | Sizes 18 - 28 = 230cm
Materials list: Self fabric, fabric for pocket bags & binding - a 40cm strip of lightweight cotton (any width of fabric), 4 x big buttons (around 2.5-3cm) or 1 x big button and 15cm zip, thread, about 40cm of good quality fusing

Worker Trousers (Womens) PDF Pattern
I love everything about those trousers. The comfortable fit and the nices finishes. The stape by stape is really helpful.
Trousers: they can be tricky, trying, terrific or a little bit terrifying. So for this pattern as a first time make I used a cheap cotton drill to see how they would work out before I make them in a more expensive material. I top sewed everything I could, just to have more practice in accuracy and I did the buttoned fly. As I generally fit a size 14 quite well I only made small adjustments to the waist, but added quite a bit of length as I am quite tall. I am pleased with the finish I was able to achieve, but a heavier weight drill would have been better. All that aside I find that they are very comfortable, and I do wear them a lot. Next time I will take a little out of the fullness below the hips to get a slightly straighter profile. Now I have confidence with this pattern I believe I could make a pair in denim as jeans. The instructions were first class as always with Modern Sewing company, so much so that I hesitate to buy other patterns now.
