What to expect.

What You'll Learn:

Choosing Your Fabrics

Choosing your fabrics and colours is an exciting and important part of creating your quilted pieces. You'll receive tips and guidance on what kind of materials will work best for your project, along with ideas around design choices.

Quilting Techniques

A key part of this workshop is learning how to quilt your own fabrics. You'll have guidance on:

  • Tools that can help the process
  • Choosing a quilt design
  • Marking out your lines
  • Sewing neatly to avoid drag lines and pleating
  • Cutting your quilted pattern pieces

Binding

Binding is a key finishing technique for this project and you'll learn how to make your own from scratch. This includes marking and cutting, techniques for pressing and tips for storing.

You'll then learn how to apply the binding neatly on each part of the garment, with a focus on how to ensure neat stitching for the reversible side.

Fit Adjustments

You'll learn how to make personal fit adjustments including:

  • Grading between sizes
  • How to Add or Reposition a Dart
  • Increase the Size of a Dart
  • Full Bust Adjustment without a Dart
  • Narrow/Wide Shoulder Adjustment
  • High Rounded Back Adjustment
  • Full Bicep Adjustment

Two-Way Patch Pocket

The most complex construction process for the Reversible Quilt Jacket is our Two-Way Patch Pocket. You'll receive step-by-step guidance to sew this piece to a high standard.

This is a beautifully functional garment detail which can be applied to your other makes in the future.

You'll Finish With...

You'll finish the workshop with a fully reversible quilted jacket. You can then apply everything you've learnt to sew your matching hooded scarf.
