Darcy Coat PDF Pattern

£15.00

The Darcy Coat is an elegant and comfortable coat that is designed for throwing over any outfit. Whether you're wearing chunky winter layers or a simple summer outfit, the Darcy Coat will drape over the top and work with your body not against it.

You can create winter or summer versions which can be lined or unlined (you will receive instructions for both options) and the pattern now comes with two lengths. You can choose between welt pockets or patch pockets depending on your skill level and and our additional Gusset Pocket hack is included with the pattern. This is the probably the most complex make in our range but it is well worth the effort.

Great pattern

Probably one of the best patterns I have used.
I made a coat for my niece who chose the pattern. I used a pure wool melton and the coat turned out really well, and my niece was really pleased. Just the right amount of oversized and she loved the big pockets.
The instructions were excellent, making this a really fun make, and I learned a few things in the process. This is the first pattern I have used from The Modern Sewing Co and I'm really impressed with the attention to detail and the care which obviously went into creating this pattern. I even contacted them to ask a question and I got a prompt and useful response.

Lovely coat

The first coat I’ve made. Considered myself a confident beginner so was a bit daunted when I read the pattern was for intermediate/experienced sewers, especially as I’d set my heart on welt pockets. I had a practice at the welt pocket and found it ok, the instructions were very clear, so I set out to make my coat. It has taken me a week and I am really happy with the result.
I used a cotton moleskin and lined it with cotton lawn. I’m very happy with it. It’s a lovely design, fits well and the instructions are clear and easy to follow. I’m planning to use this as my smart winter coat so am looking forward to the cooler weather now to wear it.

Super smart pattern

I sewed a Darcy coat with in waterproof cotton for the spring. I didn't make any changes to the pattern other than the pockets. The trench coat turned out to be very comfortable and fashionable. I plan to sew a wool coat using this pattern in the fall.
