Materials Needed

Suitable fabrics: The Daphne Trouser works very well in structured heavy to mid weight twills, drills, denims and canvas fabrics. Tougher fabrics will give you a closer fit to the body (although before starting check you can easily sew through 5 layers of the fabric) and lighter twills and denims are lovely in the summer as the lighter weight fabrics will give you a slightly looser fit.

Fabric requirements: Our lay-plans are always done on a single layer of fabric to reduce wastage.

Fabric width 150cm | Sizes 4 - 12 = 180cm | Sizes 14 - 20 = 240cm | Sizes 22 -  28 = 250cm

Fabric width 110cm | Sizes 4 - 12 = 230cm | Sizes 14 - 20 = 270cm | Sizes 22 - 28 = 290cm

Materials list: Self fabric, a small length of bias binding binding (optional), 18-20cm zip, 1 x button (around 2.5-3cm), thread, about 20cm of good quality fusing

Pages to print: Instructions - 18, A4/US Letter - 36, A0 - 2

really flattering trousers

These were my first made pair of proper trousers. I let the fitting process take quite a while which was worthwhile (waist sixe 14, hip size 10, round tummy, slight sway back...). The finished trousers fit really nicely and are my most comfy pair of pants shy from pyjamas.
I had a somewhat hard time with the fly area, but I do blame my very basic sewing machine for that. It does not have a slim foot that would have made the process neater, and it does not do well with several layers of fabric as it semms to feed top and bottom layers irregularly.

The instructions were clear, even for a beginner, and I did find the QR-links helpful!

I will definitely make several more, an "autumn" version in flannel is being planned, but might have a go at handsewing parts of the fly to get a better finish (see machine-issues above).

Perfect for all seasons

The Daphne trousers are amazing. The instructions of the pattern are great, specially at the fitting process. The zipper part was a bit tricky but I think it’s because I need to practice it more. Beside of that it’s a very straight forward pattern. I love that it comes with different hem options. I want to make another pair with cargo pockets, I think it’s a very versatile design where is very fun to add and play with the details that we personally like from a pair of pants :) I would really recommend the pattern, and also taking a look to the website’s blog for inspiration!

The perfect pants

I started making “hard pants” this year after a couple years of sewing primarily elastic waist pants and the Daphne trousers are definitely a level up. The fit pretty well with my toile and I only had to do minor adjustments with my fashion fabric. The finishes are so beautiful, especially around the fly, and the shape is PERFECT- they are wide without being too wide, they are fitted without being uncomfortable. I had made the peppermint wide leg pants before and I would say the Daphnes are less wide, more fitted in the waist, and longer, which I love and I do prefer the Daphnes. I haven’t been able to stop wearing them and immediately purchased fabric for another pair. The instructions are good and make it seem really approachable. Super impressed with this pattern drafting and now plan to make the worker trousers at some point, which weren’t on my list before but the Daphnes fit so well I’m thinking the workers will too! Obsessed with all the modern sewing patterns truly
