Celia Dress
You’ll be guided through the process of sewing the Celia Dress in great detail to help you thoroughly understand each step and achieve a high quality finish. This 2 hour video tutorial will be available for you to watch in your own time, as many times as you like.
The tutorial is broken into bitesize chapters and will cover the following skills:
- Sewing gathers
- Sewing a double yoke
- Traditional collar & lapel
- Internal facing finishing
- Side pockets
- French seams
- Sewing and inserting a two-piece sleeve
- Belt & belt loops
- Hand finishings
- Hemming
- Buttons & button holes
Month 2
Sienna Dress
Once you’ve completed your tutorial you can move on to the Sienna Dress to apply your knowledge of sewing to a new style. You’ll learn how to sew this beautiful, summery piece using the step-by-step photo guides to support you with new techniques.
These include:
- Sewing accurate pin-tucks
- Inserting an invisible zip
Project 3
Amalie Wrap Dress
Lastly we recommend sewing the Amalie Dress, using all of the skills you’ve now learnt. This is a beautiful design with a range of construction elements which includes instructions on how to complete the garment exclusively with clean finishes (no overlocking or raw edges in sight!).
You photo guides will show you how to:
- Sew an inverted sleeve pleat with inside gather details
- Fully line the bodice using 'bagging out' on the armhole, neck line and waist seam
- Hand sewn finishings
You’ll finish with:
At the end of the workshop you’ll finish with three totally unique and beautifully sewn dresses. You'll have learnt a huge range of skills to not only set you up for future dress making but giving you a solid foundation for further tailoring projects. You'll also have three dresses to add to your wardrobe, filling in the gaps for smart, casual and occasion wear pieces.

Having trained at London College of Fashion and the Tailoring Academy she is passionate about great design, detailed construction techniques and helping people make beautiful clothes.
