Digital Marketing Manager

Modern Sewing Co. is a small Hackney based business which provides high quality PDF patterns and online workshops to home sewers all over the world. Our brand ethos is that anyone can sew beautiful, high quality clothing from their own home.

Digital marketing is the heart and soul of the Modern Sewing Co. - it’s the one and only way we communicate with our customers, create excitement and generate sales. The mood of the marketing comes directly from the founder, Hetty, who shares her sewing projects and mission in great detail. The genuine passion behind her marketing has helped to build a natural momentum and loyal following. Customers regularly comment that they look forward to receiving our newsletters and get a lot of value from them.

With just one full time employee (Hetty) we are unable to reach the full potential that digital marketing offers our business. Digital marketing within the business currently consists of regular instagram posts & stories (not paid), regular weekly newsletters (past examples of these are saved to the blog) and a series of automated email flows.

We are looking to expand on this and utilise the following opportunities:

  • build and maintain the website SEO
  • utilise Pinterest with organic posts and paid ads
  • drive more newsletter subscribers with paid ads
  • ensure email flows (such as the Welcome Series) are set up to their full capability
  • study the website UX and build a website that serves our customers better

Your responsibilities as Digital Marketing Manager will include:

  • Improve and maintain the website SEO
  • Develop strategies that drive customers to the website
  • Work on the design, UX, traffic and content of the website
  • Create paid campaigns on social media platforms - facebook, instagram and pinterest
  • ETSY
  • Maintain consistent brand messaging throughout all platforms
  • create email campaigns to target specific customers
  • improve and maintain highly engaging email flows
  • maintain stats to measure success - monitor website traffic and measure the success of marketing campaigns
  • keep up to date on the latest social media trends
  • content planning and brainstorming

We are looking to work with a highly motivated, organised and professional freelancer who has proficient experience in these areas. Initially we would like to complete a couple of smaller projects (on a freelance basis) with the aim to start a regular part time role thereafter. Please let us know your day rate on application.

To apply please send a cover letter and CV to Hetty at
