Materials Needed
Suitable fabrics: The Worker Trouser works very well in structured heavy to mid weight twills, drills, denims and canvas fabrics. Lighter twills and denims are lovely in the summer and the lighter weight fabrics will give you a slightly looser fit. Before you start check you can easily sew through 5 layers of your chosen fabric.
Fabric requirements: Our lay-plans are always done on a single layer of fabric to reduce wastage.
Fabric width 150cm | Sizes 4 - 12 = 135cm | Sizes 14 - 20 = 190cm | Sizes 18 - 28 = 230cm
Fabric width 110cm | Sizes 4 - 12 = 210cm | Sizes 14 - 20 = 215cm | Sizes 18 - 28 = 230cm
Materials list: Self fabric, fabric for pocket bags & binding - a 40cm strip of lightweight cotton (any width of fabric), 4 x big buttons (around 2.5-3cm) or 1 x big button and 15cm zip, thread, about 40cm of good quality fusing

How to print your pattern:
You have two options for printing out your pattern.
1. You can get it printed in A0 at a printing shop or sewing pattern company. Search for "sewing pattern printing company" to find a company that does this in your region.

Worker Trousers (Womens) PDF Pattern
Great pattern. We used this in a trouser fitting workshop run by #FabricGodmother. I changed the front to flat, but that meant I had to put a side opening in a seam that had a pocket. I also added back darts. Overall very happy with my trousers. Plenty to adapt next time.
I just finished my worker pants and they turned out great! I used a lighter weight olive green cotton, but plan on making another pair in the future out of classic denim.
I thought the pattern was excellent. Everything lined up well as I was sewing. I've bought other patterns online from other businesses that had some issues with notches not lining up right or totally missing, or curves not looking quite right or not being smooth enough. This pattern was wonderful!
I liked the format of the instruction sheet as well. I thought the line drawings were clear and spaced out enough on the page that it was easy to keep your place and not accidentally skip a step. I did think the written instructions were a little confusing at a few steps, and I wish they had included a little more detail at those parts. The only place I remember at the moment is in the zip fly instruction "I" where it says to make a small cut in the fabric. I wish it had said whether to cut through one or both layers! I started by cutting through one, then a few steps later ended up cutting the slit in the other layer as well. I also made it all the way to the end and realized there were no instructions for the hem! I just did a double-rolled 1/2" hem which I think is intended.
Overall a great pattern! Based on my few issues, I think a beginner would struggle with this particular project using only the written instructions. I know there is a workshop that can be purchased separately, so I'm sure that would be much more clear than the written instructions.
I enjoyed sewing these very much and I can't wait to try more Modern Sewing Co. patterns!
I just finished sewing the Worker Trousers and they turned out excellent! The pattern is well crafted and I enjoyed the process. The photo tutorial for the zipper fly helped a lot and was easily accessible via QR code.
As a fairly new sewist, I could've used a bit more instructions and illustrations. For example there're no instructions how to hem the trouser legs, I would also love to have lines in the pattern indicating where I can shorten or lengthen the rise or inseam. The front pocket opening is a bit tight in my opinion, next time I'll try to modify it, I like to keep my hands in my pockets. Otherwise the instructions were clear enough, especially if you already know how to make trousers. Overall I loved the process and I'm already planning my next version!
