The Leila Shirt is a loose fitting shirt that feels simple and elegant. This cut features a very dropped shoulder with an exaggerated roomy fit around the body, full sleeves with an extra long placket and back gathering details. The Leila Shirt is an extremely roomy fit with an oversized square cut so it is a forgiving shape in terms of fit. If you’re inbetween sizes it’s recommended to size down instead of up.

This was an enjoyable project. The instructions were quite clear and easy to follow. I did however find the collar challenging as it was difficult to get a nice clean curve on the collar band. According to the measurement chart, I fall between a size 12 and 14, and based on other reviews, I sized down to a 10 and my shirt is still exceedingly roomy. I will make this lovely shirt again, but will size down to an 8.

Why did I wait so long!

Well I am so glad that I finally got around to making this gorgeous blouse. I made 3 versions each slightly different from the original version. I chose to omit the cuffs in favour of a relaxed gathered sleeve. The pink shirt has gathers and pin tucks, hacked from another of my favourite shirts by a different designer. I downsized by one size from my normal, these shirts are all a size 16 and are very loose and comfortable,but don’t look massively big when on. I used light weight cotton for each, a gorgeous duck egg blue chambray, a white shirting fabric which was a little bit stiffer and finally a fantastic pink cotton that is as light as a feather. I think I will make a final one with white linen and try the cuffs this time. Yet again another fantastic pattern from Hetty and team . Love it 🥰

Not the easiest but good learning experience

This is my second shirt ever (after following the wonderful Frida shirt workshop). I found this one quite challenging (I didn't find the instructions/illustrations at all clear or intuitive and had to do a lot of Googling) but ultimately ended up learning some useful new skills. She mentions it's very oversized and I recommend sizing down by two sizes - I sized down by one and it wasn't enough.
